Attorney Linda Nattler will present on the topic of: The UPC (United Patent Court). The topic will be about the European Unitary Patent (UP) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). The presentation will give some background information on the status and the hurdles in the way of the implementation of the UP and the UPC. It will discuss the effect of Brexit on the timeline and on possible outcomes. And, because the practical side is important for paralegals to understand, it will deal with the provisions and the procedure of opting out of the UPC (and thus also out of the UP). We will address the benefits and drawbacks of opting out.
